Tortoise is a software studio. We build tools that serve people without exploiting them — instruments for thinking, creating, and living well.

The name is the philosophy. While others race to ship, to grow, to capture, we move deliberately. Every feature earns its place. Every decision considers the person on the other side of the screen.

We believe software should protect your attention, not auction it. Should amplify your ability, not replace it. Should work for you, not the other way around.

What we make

Today we make two kinds of instruments: software for people doing human things — thinking, creating, healing, playing — and tools for the people who build that software. Same principles, two audiences. Restraint, craft, and respect, whether the person on the other side of the screen is a musician or an engineer.

Our products span music, chess, mental health, personal finance, and the developer tools we rely on ourselves — but share a common thread: they are instruments for human flourishing. Tools that make you more capable, not more dependent.
